Great Southern Electrical Services is a proudly Western Australian, family-owned electrical and industrial business with more than 25 years of experience delivering practical, high-quality solutions across the agricultural, industrial and renewable energy sectors.
The business was established by Toby Beresford in 2002, immediately after completing his electrical apprenticeship. In 2004, Krystle joined the business, taking on the books and administration as the company continued to grow.
Our story began in a backyard shed on Glyde Street in Narrogin. From those humble beginnings, we built the business one project, one client and one relationship at a time. In 2021, after almost two decades of steady growth, we moved into our own workshop in Narrogin.
A significant turning point came in 2004 through our involvement with the Oil Malley Integrated Processing Plant in Narrogin. That project opened the door to a much broader range of industrial and renewable energy opportunities, taking our work beyond the Wheatbelt and eventually to projects including the BHP nickel operation at Ravensthorpe.
Agriculture has always been at the heart of our business. We have developed long-standing relationships with agricultural producers and processing businesses throughout the Wheatbelt and regional Australia, providing everything from new installations and automation through to ongoing maintenance and breakdown support.
Our experience includes the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of hay presses for major agricultural clients including Narrakine Hay, Gimac Hay, Johnson Hay and Narrogin Hay. These are businesses we continue to work closely with, providing ongoing electrical and automation support to keep their operations running efficiently.
We also have extensive experience within the stockfeed and feed manufacturing industry, including Macco Feeds, Kojonup Feeds and Hillcroft Farms. Our work has included the installation and commissioning of pellet mills and associated processing equipment, as well as ongoing electrical, automation and maintenance support.
These long-term relationships are an important part of who we are. We don’t simply install equipment and walk away — we get to know our clients’ operations, understand their equipment and remain available to support them as their businesses grow and evolve.
Over the years, our work has taken us right across Australia, with extensive experience in biomass, steam and industrial boiler systems.
One particularly significant project involved the Australian Meat Processing Corporation (AMPC), where we were involved with a biomass boiler as part of a research and development project supported through an R&D grant. Following the R&D phase, the same biomass boiler was decommissioned, relocated and subsequently installed at Hillside Meats, giving us valuable hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a specialised biomass energy system.
Our boiler experience has also included major installations for Fletchers International in Albany, including two steam boilers supporting processing and rendering operations within abattoir facilities, as well as work involving the Uniconfort G400 biomass boiler.
Our national project experience includes biomass installations and industrial projects such as the Macadamia Nut operation in Lismore, NSW; Albany Leisure Centre in Western Australia; Smart Recycling in Dandenong, Victoria; and Gardener Hay in Caldwell, NSW. We have also delivered specialised agricultural processing projects, including a salt lick batch plant in Kununurra, alongside numerous other installations throughout regional and metropolitan Australia.
Our capabilities extend well beyond electrical installation. Our team brings together expertise in industrial electrical systems, PLC programming and automation, biomass and renewable energy systems, steam and boiler installations, agricultural processing, machine safety, earthworks and metal fabrication.
Machine safety and compliance with AS 4024 is an important part of our practice, particularly within high-risk industrial environments. We understand the importance of safe machinery design, control systems and automation, and the critical role these systems play in protecting people and keeping industrial operations running safely and efficiently.
